On Sunday June 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM, The New Boston Duoton will perform classical works for clarinet and piano at Yuri’s Piano, located at 337 Watertown Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The concert is being held in honor of Father’s Day to benefit the Adams Street Synagogue in Nonantum. The New Boston Duoton features clarinetist Arthur Lukomyansky. Educated in both Russia and the United States, Lukomyansky won first prize in the International Competition Concertino in Prague. Lukomyansky has performed and toured with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with The New Sound Ways Ensemble. He also plays chamber music with the Tancrede Trio. The Duoton’s celebrated pianist is Sergey Khanukaev, a well-known Israeli conductor, educated in Russia, Austria, and the United States. Khanukaev has conducted the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Chamber Orchestra, and The New Israeli Opera. Locally, Khanukaev has conducted the Boston University Symphony, and also performs as a pianist with various ensembles. The concert will take place at Yuri’s Piano, located at 339 Watertown Street, which is just around the corner from the Adams Street Shul. Yuri’s Piano is a frequent venue for intimate chamber concerts. Its owner, Yuri Livshetz, has been building and restoring pianos for over thirty-eight years, thirteen years in Europe followed by twenty-five in the United States. Space is extremely limited; and advance reservation is required. The program includes works by Camille Saint-Saens, Paul Ben-Haim, Fritz Kreisler, Ernst Bloch, Rheinhold Gliere, Felix Mendelssohn, and others. Tickets are $25 per person; $18 for Senior Citizens, students, and members of the Adams Street Shul. Special Father’s Day Greetings can be placed in the concert program for a donation of $10. They will also appear on the synagogue’s website (www.adamstreet.org) and in its newsletter. The Adams Street Shul is Newton’s oldest synagogue, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All proceeds benefit the Shul’s Rabbinic Endowment Fund. To order tickets, or order an inscription in the concert program, or get more information, visit the synagogue’s website at www.adamsstreet.org, or call the synagogue office at 617-630-0226. |
